Please allow me to share my experience at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Destin, FL. yesterday with my family. After a WONDERFUL four days at the Silver Shells Resort, we were about to leave the beach, and the lovely beach service waitress gave us a card to eat at Ruth's Chris in the resort. Knowing that we had 2 16-Month-Old twin baby girls, a 9-year old boy, and our 15 year old babysitter, I was reluctant as I knew that this was Ruth's Chris and not the Back Prorch (Much more casual dining). The waitress assured me that we would be fine, and we proceeded to get reservations. I have been to Ruth's Chris in Birmingham, and was familiar with their quality of food and service.
After walking in assisted by the valet staff, we were warmly greeted by hostesses, and did not receive the "Oh Lord, BABIES!" look that I was expecting. A fellow was playing alto saxophone live (As well as soprano and tenor at times), and was quite good! We were sat at a beautiful table near a group of women who looked like they know how to have a good time. The staff was EXTREMELY accommodating, and went far beyond the call of duty to make sure that our baby girls AND our picky 9 year old boy were happy. A gentleman in a suit came by a few occasions to check on us and speak of his twin children. The calamari was terrific (Some of the best that we have had), and the steaks were perfect. Also, the sweet potatoe casserole was the best that I have ever had (Sorry Mom), as well as the spinach.
Our girls were wonderful, but we were working hard to make sure that they did not disturb others. It is always a bit of a circus when we go places, because just between us, they are REALLY beautiful little girls.... Anyway, the gentleman in the suit came over and asked us if we wanted some portable DVD players for the girls so that we could enjoy a little time to savor dessert. My goodness... That was a first... The Phillips DVD players were pre-loaded with Sesame-Street videos that of course caught the attention of my girls and kept them thoroughly entertained.. The gentleman explained to us that this Ruth's Chris has to appeal to family because of the location and because of "How they believe in doing business". I would say that this was far above the average Ruth's Chris regardless of what any reviews may say.
I found out from a bus-service young man who was quite friendly and professional that this man was Bill Parker, and was the owner... Well, now if that didn't just top off our stay at the beautiful Silver Shells, I don't know what could have. The proprietor of the restaurant saw to it that we were completely taken care of, and the entire dinner was fabulous.. I never write in to these reviews, but after a wonderful experience such as this, I simply had to..
