MARIANNA — The University of Florida and the Jackson and Gadsden County Extension Offices are teaming-up again to provide a comprehensive, 60 plus hour training program for those persons interested in becoming a Master Gardener.
The Master Gardener program in Florida is sponsored by the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and cooperating county governments. This year the Gadsden and Jackson county training program will be held on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m., starting Feb. 10 and running until April 7 with one Saturday class March 13. The cost of the program is $150 which includes course material. An optional, 3-volume set of the Florida Master Gardener Manual is available for an additional $85.
After graduating, new Master Gardeners will be expected to volunteer a minimum of 75 hours the first year and 50 hours in the years following.
